Rated 5 out of 5 by Finest Homeowner Saw I've had in my hands. It is surprising that this is rated as a home saw. This saw has a great power to weight. It's quality built. And I've run farm and ranch saws that's not this powerful. And some pro saws that don't measure up to the MS250. November 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Value Saw I bought the MS250 as what I call a limb saw. My local dealer says it's a pretty solid little saw, and I trust his judgement. I am clearing out sweetgums out of plantation pines - cutting the ones too big to spray with Arsenal. My 034 is finally worn out since buying it new in 1990, and my larger saws are too heavy for trimming. Well, I can see myself reaching for the MS250 a lot more than just for trimming out sweetgums. I will probably cut some firewood with it. I have run this saw for 6 hours now. It's running 1 hour and 5 minutes per tank of fuel, doing clearing work which does involve some walking around. I like the saw. It's a small saw, but has good performance for its size and weight. I earnestly believe people who are disappointed at this saw have unrealistic expectations for a 3 hp saw. It will cut 24 inch stuff, if you keep the chain sharp, and give it time to do its job. I have no concerns with buying this saw - it will probably last me a long time. As a reference to understand my profile, I manage about 100 acres of timber, and have an MS250, 034, 044 and MS460 saw, one each. I am not a professional, but I have cut timber commercially in the past. November 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stihl continues to build the best saws. I just bought the Ms250 and I love it.I used to have a 031 until it was stolen and it was truly a great saw .I feel this 250 is a great fire wood saw and I will always own Stihl products. November 22, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hard to start- continuous problems Have had this saw for 2 years. 250 chain saw.Very hard to start, have had this saw to several different shops with no avail. Large percentage of the time will not start when most needed. Time to junk or trade for one that WORKS. November 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect home owner saw Purchased this saw to do a few trees around the house as well as a couple side jobs. It has performed great! Took down 14" cedar, 12" palm, and 12" mango tree all today and it performed flawlessly. Plenty of power for take-down, limbing and bucking. Highly recommended! November 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw. Just right size and weight for homeowners. I have had this saw for about 6 years and like it. It has great power and is lightweight. It starts easily and runs smooth. I used Homelites for many years and they were a great saw and tried many other brands over the years and now I am really impressed with this Stihl. I would buy again if I ever need to. I have never had any problems with the oiler to date. November 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to start Very powerful and easy to start. Very pleased with my new stihl November 3, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not impressed with overall function Have always bought stihl chainsaw and this is the first time I've bought one and have had numerous problems. Have taken it to get fixed and still keep having problems with it. Chain oiler constantly clogs and now the engine seized and had to get it repaired again. I don't recommend this model. Other models I've bought and used have worked fine. November 1, 2015
